Angela Sterling was born in Boston, Massachusetts, and trained with Boston Ballet. At the age of 16 she joined Pacific Northwest Ballet and was promoted to Soloist soon after. In addition to her work with numerous choreographers, she danced many roles in the Balanchine repertory, including principal roles in Agon, Concerto Barrocco,  Divertimento No. 15, The Four Temperaments, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Serenade, Stravinsky Violin Concerto, Symphony in C, La Valse, Valse Fantasie, and Who Cares?

After suffering a career-ending back injury she immediately turned to her second passion, photography. Having graduated from Boston’s New England School of Photography, she moved to Europe where she quickly carved out a niche for herself by creating images using her instinctive dancer’s timing. She photographs for companies all over the world, including Pacific Northwest Ballet (Seattle), Boston Ballet, Oregon Ballet Theater, Alonzo King’s LINES (San Francisco), Dutch National Ballet (Amsterdam), & Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo.

In addition to her live performance work, Angela’s studio shoots are greatly enhanced by her dancer background. She has worked on marketing campaigns for BLOCH Dancewear, Mirella Dancewear, Class Act Tutu, VALA Dancewear and lululemon athletica.

Her work appears in New York’s DANCE Magazine, Pointe Magazine, and Dance Spirit Magazine, and international publications, including Danse Magazine (Paris), Dance Europe (London) and BallettTanz (Germany).

Angela’s work is showcased at the Kimpton’s Alexis Hotel in Seattle and an installation of murals for the lobby at Price Waterhouse Coopers headquarters in Amsterdam.
