Dr Freya Vass-Rhee is a dance researcher and dramaturg. A former dancer, ballet mistress, teacher, and choreographer for companies and schools in the U.S. and Europe, she holds a Ph.D. in Dance History and Theory (University of California, Riverside).

Her publications have appeared in Dance Chronicle, Theater Ohne Fluchtpunkt/Theater Without Vanishing Points (Alexander Verlag), and William Forsythe and the Practice of Choreography: It Starts From Any Point (Routledge). Freya worked for The Forsythe Company as dramaturg and production assistant from 2006-13 and has been a freelance dramaturg since 2007. In 2008 she was dramaturg for David Dawson’s Giselle at the Semperoper in Dresden. She is currently a Lecturer in Drama and Theatre at the University of Kent.
